KryptoKids and the Secret Network

An Adventure Game for Democracy Education and Extremism Prevention

Gamification for Democracy

With the project KryptoKids and the Secret Network, we aim to teach children aged 10 and above important values and knowledge related to democracy education and extremism prevention in a playful way. The goal is for young people to learn how democratic processes work, how to protect themselves from disinformation, and how to critically engage with extremist propaganda online.

Challenges and Needs

In an increasingly digital society, political and social processes are playing a growing role online. From social media campaigns to digitally published election results, the digital world shapes our lives and is also exploited by extremist networks for propaganda and recruitment. Children are active in these digital spaces, often unaware of how disinformation or manipulation works. Therefore, early education is crucial to show children how to critically question their digital and political environment.

Our Approach

KryptoKids and the Secret Network is a three-part adventure game that provides children with exciting insights into the topics of democracy, fake news, and extremism in three 90-minute units.

Results and Added Value

KryptoKids and the Secret Network offers children a safe and educational platform to learn the basics of democracy, media literacy, and how to protect themselves from extremist influences on the internet. Through this project, children develop a better understanding of societal processes, learn to think critically, and become sensitized to the dangers of digital manipulation.
