An Adventure Game for Democracy Education and Extremism Prevention
The KryptoKids – a group of young tech fans and detectives – face a serious challenge: a secret network is trying to sabotage democracy! In exciting missions, players become digital detectives: uncovering fake news, spotting hidden clues on social media, and confronting extremist propaganda. The goal: protect democracy and unmask the secret network.
But there’s more behind the adventure: KryptoKids and the Secret Network is a three-part serious game for children aged 10 and above. Over three 90-minute sessions, participants gain engaging insights into democracy, fake news, and extremism. They learn how democratic processes work, how to identify disinformation online, and how to critically counter extremist strategies.
Why it matters
In today’s digital world, social and political debates increasingly take place online – and extremist networks exploit these spaces for manipulation and recruitment. Children navigate these digital environments naturally, often without understanding how disinformation works. The project raises awareness early on, strengthening critical thinking, democratic values, and resilience against digital manipulation.
